Latest Updates from Our Project:

¡No Mames, We're Funded!
about 8 years ago – Tue, Mar 06, 2018 at 10:24:30 AM

¡Hola, amigos!

We’re a little more than three hours in… and more than completely funded. You all are amazing. ¡Gracias, gracias!

You all don’t know what it means to me to have the kind of support you have put forward. When I first envisioned what Cartel could be, there was a part of me that thought “No way, güey. No one will ever play it. No one.” And as I watch the numbers tick up on my screen…a part of me still doesn’t believe it! ¡Ay ay ay!

And we aren’t done yet, muchachos! Not by a long shot. We’ve got lots more planned, material that I can’t wait to share with you: new playbooks, expansions to the Deck of Locations and other supplements, and maybe even some stuff that takes Cartel to new places. Who knows where we’ll end up by the time we’re done!

On that note, it looks like you chamacos funded our first stretch goal already:

Unlocked Stretch Goal: La Rata ($7,500)

La Rata has already been unlocked! This new playbook will be available to all $10+ backers as a PDF, and we'll include it in the print version of the Cartel core rulebook. I’m really excited to add La Rata to the book; The Departed is a big inspiration for Cartel, and I can’t wait to MC for a table that includes both La Polizeta and La Rata. Gato y ratón, for sure.

And don’t forget...when we reach $10k, we’ll be adding 20 pages of la policía to Amigos y Enemigos! ¡Ya mero!

New Stretch Goal: El Güero ($12,500)

But you know those gringos. They can’t wait to butt their way in to our asuntos and make trouble. I’ve managed to hold them off for a while now, but they demanded that the next set of stretch goals go to them!

Driven, pitiless, lost. El Güero is a CIA operative who has worked the drug war for so long he’s no longer sure which way is up...or who the real villains are anymore.

El Güero is a playful fellow, an American agent who has gotten mixed up in this mess of a drug war at a level that few can rival. He’s committed to the cause, though. Whatever that cause is...or was. It’s hard to tell these days, when his whole job is securing American interests instead of doing the right thing. Así es la vida, güey. You know how it is.

If we reach $12,500, we’ll add El Güero to the CIA mini-supplement (La Águila y La Serpiente) in both PDF and print. Remember that the printed mini-supplement only appears in the special edition of the Cartel core rulebook!

New Stretch Goal: New AyE - Americanos ($15,000)

Of course, not all Americans work for the CIA. Some come down to Durango on other business.

Ah, pinches Americans. Can’t live with them. They won’t let you live without them. The gringos bring their money here, and they think they own the place. And they can’t even be bothered to learn the puto language…

If we reach $15,000, we'll add five new characters to the Amigos y Enemigos supplement, bringing the book to a total of 100 pages. These new characters will focus on Americans who have wandered south of the border, including federal agents, business people, and the occasional tourist…

¡Gracias, amigos!

Seriously, I cannot say enough thank yous. Between Coco winning Best Animated Film, Guillermo Del Toro winning multiple Oscars for The Shape of Water, Gabriel García Márquez’s birthday (he’s not Mexican, but magical realism!), and this…I’m just blown away. <3

¡Vamos, muchachos! Let’s keep this going!
